Stiffy front roll

Stiffy front roll is another advanced kitesurfing techniques that may resemble the single back roll trick. Stiffy front roll is somewhat different from other techniques in the way it is performed. However, this technique does involve at least the same amount of work, practice and dedication to master as the other advanced kitesurfing techniques. Also, as other advanced techniques, Stiffy front roll requires the kite surfer to be comfortable with handling the kite and performing the basic techniques.

Stiffy front roll involves performing one 360 degrees turn at once. The difference from the single back roll is that the kitesurfer has to perform the turn while keeping an almost perpendicular to the water line position. Keeping an almost perpendicular to the water line position is the part that makes this technique somewhat harder to perform. To perform the Stiffy front roll trick, the kitesurfer will need to gain the appropriate speed and power, jump in the air and execute one 360 degrees rotation in the air.

The Stiffy front roll rotation has to be executed in the following way. The kitesurfer will need to hold the kite’s pole with both hands and spin backwards while keeping almost perpendicular to the surface position. In other words, with the Stiffy front roll, the kitesurfer’s feet and kiteboard will spin in a circular fashion in the clock direction. After the Stiffy front roll trick is performed, the kitesurfer will need to land in a forward position going in the same direction.

It is beneficial to practice the he Stiffy front roll technique at the same time or right after the single back roll technique, as these trick have some similarities. However, the Stiffy front roll trick make take more practice time, as compared to the single back roll trick.
